Eligibility
Children who are admitted to Montessori Children's House must be 3 (4 or 5) years of age by September 1st and toilet trained.
Classes
Pre-School Morning Program for three and four year olds (M-F/8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.)Note: Four year olds have the option of staying half day.
Full Day/Pre-School Program for four year olds (M-F/8:45 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)
Kindergarten, First Grade and Junior Class - 2nd-3rd grades (M-F/8:45 a.m. - 2:45p.m.)
For both Pre-School and Kindergarten a basic Montessori curriculum of language, math, art and art history, sensorial and practical life is followed.
For First Grade, the main emphasis is to build competence in mathematics and reading. A literature-based program is used along with the Montessori curriculum.
For Junior Class, a multi-age group of seven to nine/ten year olds. Elementary age students follow a Montessori curriculum including mathematics, geometry, language arts, art and art history, cultural subjects, history, geography, and the earth and natural sciences.
General
Families are strongly encouraged to enroll their children for the full three year Montessori cycle (PreK-K), thus completing their kindergarten year here, in either a half or full day class; then again, for the 3-year cycle of grades 1-3.
