Happy Primary eggs Hatch in Creative Movement

While the chicken eggs were in the process of hatching in the classroom, it felt like the perfect time to imagine being eggs in Creative Movement. The children acted out Ruth Krasses’s book The Haooy Egg. The children selected colored fabric to cover themselves as little eggs and after hatching the same fabric became their wings.

I also shared the book with them about Chickens Aren’t The Only Ones by Ruth Heller which beautifully illustrated the many different creatures that are born through an egg. This group is called Oviparous.

It is always a joy for me to see the children move so freely!

Happy Elementary Eggs Hatch in Creative Movement

I gave the students a choice of what kind of egg they would like to be, using the book Chickens Aren’t The Only Ones as a resource. The children were very creative in their choices. They made up some imaginary creatures of their own combining one or more egg layers.  They were able to find the unique voices and movement to relate to their creation. They spontaneously formed an improvisational community that was quite compelling to watch. I was very impress with their ability to focus and stay character while movement with abandonment.  It was wonderful for me to watch them express themselves with unique and inhibitive movement and dance.
